Hey It’s Okay….

Airing My Dirty Laundry

To not want to do any work when I go to work tonight. this is my 14th consecutive day and I really just want to sleep.

To know that complaining about my job is stupid because at least I have one right?

To desperately need to mail out my save the dates for my wedding, because I need to finish the invitations and get them out in April or June.

To just want Kensei to clean the house I am so sick of living in filthy surroundings….

To want a pamper day, I need one bad.

Angel Reads Supermarket Healthy By Melissa d'Arabian

Supermarket Healthy: Recipes and Know-How for Eating Well Without Spending a Lot

I need to start this review off with I am a HUGE Food Network lover, mainly of the legit cooking shows, not so much of the reality TV that overcompases it currently, although Cutthroat Kitchen and Chopped are good to watch.

I learned to cook regular non Italian food from Good Eats, 30 Min Meals, Emeril, If it was on Food TV I probably watched it. So when Blogging for Books offered me the chance to read and review a Food Network book I jumped for joy!

Melissa d'Arabian makes a pretty cookbook, not all of her recipes are super complicated but they are simple healthy meals that anyone, beginner or super chef can make.

The book is set up in meal format, so breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, salads, drinks etc. I think my absolute FAVORITE meal was the Tomato Sauced Baked Eggs for  breakfast. They were amazing with some toast and I plan on making them often in the future!

I loved the “Blueprints” that were sprinkled throughout the book, they aren’t exactly recipes but ways to cook, techniques, and recipes bases that you could adjust to your own.

She also included the nutritional facts for each recipe which is great in a healthy cookbook! I know it isn’t super hard to type up a recipe on a site like myfitnesspal and get the facts, but it is super cool when you don’t actually have to!

If you are looking for a basic cookbook for healthy meal ideas and “Blueprints” I say supermarket healthy is a great one to try out!!

*I received a free copy of this from Blogging For Books, but all thoughts/opinions are mine and mine alone*

Three Things I Want For Valentine’s Day:

I have never really been into Valentine’s day because the majority of my relationship with Kensei was long distance and well we just have never really done the Valentine’s thing.
This year we are going to see a free production of Rocky Horror Picture Show and hopefully have dinner at a local Japanese restaurant, BUT on the down side, I’m doing all the buying because Kensei is still jobless… So What do I want for Valentine’s day???

1. Flowers… I always have wanted someone to send me flowers and never have had it done, I love flowers and think they brighten up any area where they are, but have never had someone send them to me. I have bought myself  little sets from the grocery store but it just isn’t the same.

2. a week of paid vacation from work. I am honestly so tired between working 5-7 days a week full time and going to school full time, that I honestly just want a week to relax, but I still need to pay bills…

3.  My wedding invitations finished and printed out. I have the save the dates mailed but now I have to get the actual invitations printed and mailed out.

What are your plans for Valentine’s day? Are you doing anything? What are your three things you want?

Angel Reads The Soup Club Cookbook

I was super excited when I was accepted into the Blogging For Books site. I love to read and when I saw what was available I had to try out a cook book first.

Now my family says I am great at cooking, but recently it seems that one of their favorites I make is soup. When I went home for M’s Wedding my dad had enough ingredients for me to make 18 quarts each of 3 different soups!!

The Soup Club Cookbook: Feed Your Friends, Feed Your Family, Feed Yourself

This book has lovely pictures and cute stories sprinkled through out it about how to make different soups and how to start your own soup club! I had never really heard of a soup club before, and it sounds like a kick butt idea, I just need to find 3 other people willing to join in with me! This book not only has soups, but amazing side dishes and drinks too! Every recipe comes with its own story of how it got into the group, and I thought the notes were an adorable addition!

The soup recipes are for large batches because they are meant to be used within a soup club and shared with many people, but I am sure that the ones I haven’t tried yet will freeze well because the ones I did try froze beautifully. They have Asian soups, and several different styles and tastes!

I liked how the humor was tossed in the book, honestly one of my favorite chapters was “Music to cook too” where they shared playlists of their favorite cooking music, I cannot cook properly without some music in the background so this really made me smile!

I think this book would be a welcome addition to any family’s cookbook stash, but that unless you plan to cook and freeze make sure you halve or quarter each recipe!

* I was sent this book for free for my honest opinion and review

If you want to see any of the recipes from this book let me know and I will make a future blog post on them!

Musical Mondays Secret Mission!

So I have been pretty much listening to one soundtrack only for at least the past 2 weeks, I felt like I needed to share my 2 favorite songs from it. I hope that those of you reading my blog have seen the magic wonderfulness that is Galavant if not.. please please go watch it!! I Desperately need season 2!!!

First song is sweet and romantic (sorta)

I’ve been singing this song in the car, and having Kensei chime in now and then occasionally.

and one of my other favorite songs I call a drinking song, (Plus look at the little dance the king does after the first first!) Also if you watch Psych you will recognize the king as LASSIE!!!

So what songs are you playing on repeat??
