Blogtember Life Lately…

Life lately… well I haven’t really done to much honestly. We are halfway through September and I’ve barely touched my goals for this month.

BUT I do have a little good news, Kensei and I talked about it and we are thinking about getting married next year. If we do it would be a tiny ceremony basically justice of the peace and then when we have enough money later on we would throw our reception.

This means I’ve been looking at wedding dresses. I mentioned a few of my options in my blogtember post on shopping.

My birthday was good, We saw City Of Bones, and were the only people in the theater. We had pizza for lunch and went to Shogun for dinner… that was the only part I wasn’t happy about. I had never been there and was really looking forward to it. but we were seated at a table with an older couple and a mother of 4, 3 of her kids were REALLY well behaved but one threw a literal kicking screaming temper tantrum throughout dinner, so we didn’t get the show, the chef just cooked the food and left, then the lady didn’t leave the poor waitress a tip… that made me mad, and basically made going out for my birthday dinner pointless.

I also came about 30 seconds close to being robbed last night. I work audit 2 nights a week at a hotel, and I usually get to work about 30 min early. I was walking across the parking lot to the lobby last night carrying my school bag, laptop and purse. A car pulled into the lot behind me, and I remember thinking, oh, I left something in the car, but decided to not turn back and get it. As I walked into the lobby a guest walked out, she had maybe taken two steps when a guy jumped out of the car, pulled a gun and stole her purse… I spent most of my night at work extra jumpy because 30 seconds later and that could have been me….

What is new in your life?? I’d love to know!

Front Desk Guest Associate

I would be linking up with Hey It’s Okay today but I needed to get this off my chest.

Hello, My name is Angel and I work as  a Front Desk Guest Associate at a hotel, I have worked front desk for almost 8 years now and I have learned a few things that non hotel employees might want to take a quick peek at.

First, I work a minimum of an 8 hour shift, with no lunch break, no rest break and only occasionally get to use the restroom.

I have to be sweet, smiling and happy that entire 8 plus hour shift regardless of anything that is going on in my life, or how I feel health wise. Sometimes I work 16-18 hour shifts with only a 6 hour break to go home and sleep… so if my smile is a little fake well that’s why.

Here are some things I just want to put out there as things NOT to do.

I’ve already posted a few of these such as how to handle kids, Naked males, Drunks at night, and many other things!

But here are some things that really irk me, particularly as I just saw a news show telling people to do these things!

1. I AM NOT here for you to talk down to, you can tell a lot about a person by the way the treat waiters and the front desk, yes my job is to provide service with a smile, but it is not for you to cuss me out and try to make me feel like crud.

2. Do not argue the price of the rooms with me. I am looking at my computer screen and the more you argue with me the more likely I will not budge or just tell you to go elsewhere, if you have AAA, AARP or Military ID I will give you those discounts not more, our AAA and AARP is 10% off, not 20, 30 or 50.

3. Unless you are handicap DO NOT ask for the handicap room, especially on busy nights. I don’t care if the news told you they were more spacious, they are so that people in wheelchairs can maneuverer, I hate having to tell the actual handicap guests that I don’t have an accessible room because you wanted more space.

4. DO NOT call me honey, baby, sweetie, doll, doll face, hot stuff or anything else along those lines, I am not dating you or your groupie, it is really disrespectful.

5. On that same note, do not ask me to join you in your room. I don’t want to, am not allowed to, and could honestly loose my job just because you asked me to if another guest hears and mentions it to my boss.

and the thing that sparked this post.

6. I do not under ANY circumstances need to know about your masturbatory habits. I do not need you to come up to the desk every 30 min to tell me you just finished… umm enjoying yourself, I do not need details, I do not need you to bring up your porn to the desk to try and show me. I don’t care that you are a super amazing elite member of our guest rewards program…. it makes me uncomfortable, particularly when I am the only employee in the hotel on the audit shift and is harassment.

I love my job, but some times I just don’t understand people….

Forever and A Day

Okay so once again it’s been forever and a day from the last time I posted.

My mother and Father have come to an agreement on visitation rights and child support so that is a good thing. We will see how long my mother sticks to it.

So this week has been hectic for me.  lol On Sunday I came to work and was informed of some interesting things that had happened during the night shift,

One guest put his girlfriend through the window of their hotel room, the police were called, but by the time they arrived the couple had vanished, only THEY CAME BACK!!! Apparently they had forgotten their ummm smoking material of choice (its green and grows and is illegal except in California lol) so they figured the logical thing to do would be to come back and get it! then they argued in the car about who would go into the room and get it, while they were arguing the police had enough time to come back and surround them. they were arrested of course, but the night wasn’t over.

while this was going on one of our regulars was coming back from his nightly partying and was drunker than a skunk, he pulled up to the chief of police’s car and informed him that he needed to move the squad car as the gentleman (and I use that term lightly) wished to park in that particular spot, the chief of police said no, and the guest pulled up to the car, then he was informed that he should back away from the car, the guest couldn’t put his car in reverse and HIT the chief of police’s squad car… of course leading to an impound and jail.

God I LOVE my job! lol

I need to figure out what to wear for Halloween, I was informed we could wear tasteful costumes to work so I need one! Any ideas?

I promise promise promise to write more often!!

The News on Prom is:

Well first of all this post is because I was reading my many favorite blogs and noticed they all were ganging up on me to post about prom. I was going to post a complaint about prom kids and hotels in Tales From The Audit Shift Parts one and two but decided that I would just add it here. In addition to accepting the Challenge from Keely which I will go into in a moment.

It is prom month in Sunny SC, every weekend this past month I have had several adorable little couples in formal wear coming to the hotel to check into rooms. After the first weekend we implemented an over 21 check in. They had their PARENTS check them in!! I will never understand some people.

So on to the Challenge! Keely posted a challenge that she got from two other wonderful bloggers: Jen and Stiletto Mom challenged all of us to post our pictures from prom because that way they wouldn't feel alone.

Now I thought this would be a relatively easy post, put up a few images add a few words and the end. Here's where the drama is, when we moved I decided to keep most of my things in storage because I would be moving again to TN with Kensei. This seemed like a sound plan at the time. sadly this included my prom pictures. Not that there were all that many to begin with. I disliked being in photographs in high school. So I have begged my Dad relentlessly to find a few digital copies of some and send them to me, hopefully he can so in case he can't I will post a few pictures until then.

I went to three proms, sophomore, Jr and Sr. My Sophomore year I went to help and ended up dancing most of the night with my best friend Mark. He was there with one of his girlfriends a friend of mine named Scarlett, she was having a melt down and asked me to pretend to be his date while she did my job. I don't think I have a picture of this prom so I will show you a version of the dress. My mother and I went to a consignment shop called Daff-A-Deals they are no longer in business but I found two of my three dresses there.

The first one was a black version of the Audrey Hepburn dress from My Fair Lady. I saw it and decided that even if it didn't fit i wouldn't eat until it did. Luckily for me it was a perfect fit. For those of you who have never seen the movie ( you should) It was a simple dress but there was a mesh over slip completely covered with sparkling jet beads. I wish I still had this one but my mother took it to be dry cleaned after the prom and I never saw it again.

This is for those of you who don't want to watch the movie, this was my dress only it was black and sleeveless.

Then came Jr. Prom. I went with some friends, and had fun, I guess I had a wonderful dress this time and actually have pictures of it on hand so I can show you. My mother and i fought after this one because my wonderful dress (bought at daff-a-deals for 40 dollars) had been ripped by the beaded purse a friend gave me.

This was my dress. I loved the millions of layers and was amazed we got it so cheap. I didn't have big hair, in fact every prom I went to I had an up do of some sort.

The making faces at the camera moment and the obligatory please get this over with look.

And a Smile.

After this I had Sr. Prom. I went as a friend's chaperon, I didn't do a very good job at it though. I was supposed to go with Kensei, had filled out the "Please please please let my boyfriend come" form and begged the appropriate authority figures, unfortunately Kensei couldn't make it. He didn't tell me until after I had bought his ticket either.

I cannot find any pictures of this as of yet, but I will look even harder when I get off work tonight. I once again had a killer dress this one was bought at Riches and was not black but a Deep Red. I loved it, but I wanted a different one. The dress I wanted I cannot find online anymore but it was basically the more sparkly version of my red dress with a ruffle down the side. Wish me luck finding the pictures!

Kensei still owes me one Formal dress up night because being the wonderful Boyfriend that he was in HS he managed to get into three car accidents, and avoid both Jr, Sr prom and Graduation. (Shows you how much he was determined NOT to come back to SC)

This would be where Not Me Monday should be.

I have been participating in Not Me Monday Hosted by the Fabulous McMama. But I am not posting today for a few reasons, One Stellan is not doing well as of the last update, I know that not many people read my blog but those that do please pray for Stellan.

second, well i really haven't done much besides work this week so I do not have many not me's to toss out.

This guy was a general jerk.

On my way to work tonight I YET again passed a mess of police, only this time it was not a manhunt for a criminal but a serious accident. They had closed off all but one lane because of it. Then about two minuets after I got through that road block I pull into our parking lot and see three police cars at the front entrance, One of the VA Patients was upset that another had asked him to come to his room and called the police.

I am going to leave you all with this thought:

What is the world coming to??

Now for the fun part, *Cues spooky music*

TALES FROM THE AUDIT SHIFT!!!! *cuts off spooky music*

On my way to work tonight as I got off the exit there were 6 police cars behind a car, and three in front of it as well as a news van, I thought wow, I wonder what happened there but I was in a hurry and went to work. Got to work and just kind of went through the evening happily until one of our regulars rushed down and told me "Girl, turn on the news!" I did and they were talking about a manhunt for someone who was wanted for two robberies and was loose on our street. So far at midnight I have seen a total of seven police officers walk into the hotel, plus we were all ordered to lock car doors, and home doors, unfortunately I cannot lock the hotel door, so I am sitting here waiting to hear what happens. I was nervous because i spent about 20 min standing at my car chatting with a friend in the parking lot until I went into work. Bad things could have happened.
