Well first of all this post is because I was reading my many favorite blogs and noticed they all were ganging up on me to post about prom. I was going to post a complaint about prom kids and hotels in
Tales From The Audit Shift Parts
one and
two but decided that I would just add it here. In addition to accepting the Challenge from
Keely which I will go into in a moment.
It is prom month in Sunny SC, every weekend this past month I have had several adorable little couples in formal wear coming to the hotel to check into rooms. After the first weekend we implemented an over 21 check in. They had their PARENTS check them in!! I will never understand some people.
So on to the
Challenge!
Keely posted a challenge that she got from two other wonderful
bloggers:
Jen and
Stiletto Mom challenged all of us to post our pictures from prom because that way they wouldn't feel alone.
Now I thought this would be a relatively easy post, put up a few images add a few words and the end. Here's where the drama is, when we moved I decided to keep most of my things in storage because I would be moving again to TN with
Kensei. This seemed like a sound plan at the time. sadly this included my prom pictures. Not that there were all that many to begin with. I disliked being in photographs in high school. So I have begged my Dad relentlessly to find a few digital copies of some and send them to me, hopefully he can so in case he can't I will post a few pictures until then.
I went to three proms, sophomore, Jr and Sr. My Sophomore year I went to help and ended up dancing most of the night with my best friend
Mark. He was there with one of his girlfriends a friend of mine named Scarlett, she was having a melt down and asked me to pretend to be his date while she did my job. I don't think I have a picture of this prom so I will show you a version of the dress. My mother and I went to a consignment shop called
Daff-A-Deals they are no longer in business but I found two of my three dresses there.
The first one was a black version of the Audrey Hepburn dress from My Fair Lady. I saw it and decided that even if it didn't fit i wouldn't eat until it did.
Luckily for me it was a perfect fit. For those of you who have never seen the movie ( you should) It was a simple dress but there was a mesh
over slip completely covered with sparkling jet beads. I wish I still had this one but my mother took it to be
dry cleaned after the prom and I never saw it again.

This is for those of you who don't want to watch the movie, this was my dress only it was black and sleeveless.
Then came Jr. Prom. I went with some friends, and had fun, I guess I had a wonderful dress this time and actually have pictures of it on hand so I can show you. My mother and i fought after this one because my wonderful dress (bought at
daff-a-deals for 40 dollars) had been ripped by the beaded purse a friend gave me.

This was my dress. I loved the millions of layers and was amazed we got it so cheap. I didn't have big hair, in fact every prom I went to I had an
up do of some sort.

The making faces at the camera moment and the obligatory please get this over with look.

And a Smile.
After this I had Sr. Prom. I went as a friend's
chaperon, I didn't do a very good job at it though. I was
supposed to go with
Kensei, had filled out the "Please please please let my boyfriend come" form and begged the
appropriate authority figures,
unfortunately Kensei couldn't make it. He didn't tell me until after I had bought his ticket either.
I cannot find any pictures of this as of yet, but I will look even harder when I get off work tonight. I once again had a killer dress this one was bought at Riches and was not black but a Deep Red. I loved it, but I wanted a different one. The dress I wanted I cannot find online anymore but it was
basically the more
sparkly version of my red dress with a ruffle down the side. Wish me luck finding the pictures!
Kensei still owes me one Formal dress up night because being the wonderful Boyfriend that he was in HS he managed to get into three car accidents, and avoid both Jr, Sr prom and Graduation. (Shows you how much he was determined NOT to come back to SC)
